Columbia Pictures Turns 100

Hollywood Studio Celebrates Century Milestone

Iconic Logo Remains Relevant

Columbia Pictures, a subsidiary of Sony Pictures Entertainment, is celebrating its 100th anniversary this week. The studio was founded in 1919 as Cohn-Brandt-Cohn Film Sales by brothers Jack and Harry Cohn and their partner Joe Brandt. The company's name was changed to Columbia Pictures Corporation in 1924.

Columbia Pictures is one of the oldest and most successful film studios in Hollywood. The studio has produced some of the most iconic films in history, including "Casablanca," "The Bridge on the River Kwai," "Lawrence of Arabia," and "Taxi Driver." Columbia Pictures is also home to the popular television series "Seinfeld" and "The Good Wife."

To mark its 100th anniversary, Columbia Pictures is releasing a new logo. The new logo features the studio's iconic torch-bearing woman, but with a modernized look. The new logo will be used on all of Columbia Pictures' films and television shows going forward.

"We are proud to celebrate 100 years of Columbia Pictures," said Tom Rothman, chairman of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group. "Columbia Pictures has been a home to some of the most iconic filmmakers and actors in history. We are excited to see what the next 100 years hold for Columbia Pictures."
