According to Portnoy's social media accounts, he was approximately 10 miles off the coast when his boat's engine stalled. The boat began to drift towards land, and Portnoy was unable to restart the engine.

The Coast Guard was alerted to the situation and dispatched a rescue boat to Portnoy's location. Coast Guard personnel reached the boat and safely transferred Portnoy to their vessel.

No injuries were reported, and Portnoy thanked the Coast Guard for their quick and efficient response. In a social media post, he wrote, "I can't say enough about the USCG. They were incredible."
