Eagles Flashbacks: Michael Vick Returns to Atlanta as Philly Shreds the Falcons

A Night to Remember

The national spotlight placed on the Philadelphia Eagles' Halloween Night showdown with the Atlanta Falcons had much less to do with the trick-or-treaters gathering candy than it did with the quarterback under center for the Eagles.

Michael Vick, making his return to Atlanta for the first time since his departure from the Falcons in 2009, led the Eagles to a convincing 31-17 victory over his former team.

Vick was masterful in his return, passing for 241 yards and two touchdowns, earning a 124.1 passer rating

Dominant Defense

While Vick's play was impressive, the defense was the true star of the night, intercepting Matt Ryan three times and sacking him five times.

The Eagles defense also held the Falcons to just 57 rushing yards on 19 attempts, disrupting their game plan and forcing them into numerous third-and-long situations.

Grady Jarrett led the charge for the Eagles' defense, recording two sacks, three tackles for loss, and a forced fumble.

Offensive Explosion

The Eagles' offense was firing on all cylinders, scoring 31 unanswered points over a 20-minute span in the second and third quarters.

Four different players found the end zone for the Eagles, including LeGarrette Blount who added 56 rushing yards on 18 attempts.

Alshon Jeffery caught two of Vick's touchdown passes, finishing with 101 receiving yards on four catches.

Vick's Return

The game was particularly emotional for Vick, who spent six seasons in Atlanta and was a key figure in the Falcons' run to the NFC Championship Game in 2004.

Vick received a standing ovation from the Atlanta crowd when he was introduced as the Eagles' starting quarterback.

After the game, Vick said, "It was an emotional night for me. I have a lot of great memories in Atlanta and it was good to be back."
